YOUNG STUNNA’S PARENTS AND FAMILY

Stunna was brought up in a religious family and occasionally sang in the church choir in Daveyton, South Africa, the place he was born. His father had a bar with a jukebox, and his mother was a casual singer. Spending weekends at the bar introduced Stunna to a wide range of music, such as R&B and Kwaito. Sandile Msimango, widely known professionally as Young Stunna, was born on November 17, 1997. Stunna is a popular Amapiano singer from South Africa who is well known for his hit songs “Bopha” and “Adiwele.” Also, he is recognized for his work in amapiano house music, and his works with the legendary DJs Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, also nicknamed the Scorpion Kings.

Some reports state that Young Stunna attended undisclosed primary and secondary schools for his studies in Ekurhuleni. But, according to other reports, the musician went to Benoni West Primary and Lee Rand High School. Stunna completed his education at Daveyton’s Unity Secondary School. As for his nickname, Young Stunna said that his fans in Daveyton, where he was brought up, gave him the stage name “Young Stunna.”

When he was younger, Young Stunna eventually developed a hobby in songwriting. He was chosen to participate in singing in his church, so he joined the church chorus.

At the age of 13, he began composing music and made the decision to make music his career. Before progressing to amapiano house music in 2012, he worked as a hip-hop musician. His supporters in Daveyton, Ohio, where he grew up, gave him the nickname “Young Stunna.” He became popular earlier in 2021 as a member of the Piano Hub group when he appeared on the blockbuster acapella hit “Bopha” by Mellow & Sleazy and Felo Le Tee.

His debut album, “Notumato,” was released in October 2021 and features South African artists DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Sizwe Alakaine, and Blxckie. His song “Adiwele,” which had a total of 23.4 million plays, made it to #1 on SA radio. On April 20, 2022, Freedom Sounds Documentary recognized Young Stunna on Spotify.

“It’s the biggest challenge when you’re not concentrated and don’t know your story,” the 26-year-old stated while reflecting on his experience stepping into the music industry. “To avoid many things, it requires a lot of self-control and staying at home. I just went out of my way to succeed because I needed to avoid a lot of bad things. I succeeded by reaching out and being kind to the individuals I met while singing.
